Prominent Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho has publicly lauded businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Egungbohun, popularly known as IBD Dende, for his extraordinary generosity and steadfast support during one of the most challenging periods of his life.
Speaking about his experience after being released from detention in the Benin Republic, Igboho shared that Dende immediately reached out to check on his wellbeing and plans. When Igboho explained that he and his wife needed ₦6 million for flight tickets to Germany, Dende didn’t hesitate—he asked for his bank details and, in a remarkable gesture, sent ₦20 million, well above the travel cost, assuring that the extra money could cover other urgent needs.
Igboho further revealed that upon his return to Nigeria, despite ongoing financial restrictions, Dende was the first person he met. During that visit, the businessman provided an additional ₦10 million to help him host visitors and handle pressing responsibilities, especially while his bank account remained frozen.
The activist also expressed deep gratitude to former Oyo State Governor Rasheed Ladoja, crediting him for helping resolve issues between Igboho and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Describing Dende as a man of rare loyalty and compassion, Igboho emphasized that anyone who bears ill will toward him “is under a curse,” highlighting the profound gratitude he feels for the support he received.
The story has since sparked widespread discussions across social and political circles, further cementing IBD Dende’s reputation as a philanthropist who stands firmly by his associates in times of need.
