On Thursday, 12 March 2026, the Acting Customs Area Controller for the Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Deputy Comptroller Wale Adewole, paid courtesy visits to two prominent traditional leaders: the Aseyin of Iseyin Land, Oba (Dr.) Sefiu Olawale Oyebola Adeyeri III, and the Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba Ghandi Olaoye. The visits were part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with traditional institutions in combating smuggling and promoting lawful trade.
These palace visits were also a key component of the Controller’s broader stakeholder engagement strategy, aimed at building strong relationships with community leaders whose influence is vital for mobilizing local support for government policies and initiatives.
At the Aseyin’s palace, DC Adewole expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he and his team received. He highlighted the Nigeria Customs Service’s recognition of the crucial role traditional institutions play in maintaining peace, security, and order in their communities.
He reassured the traditional rulers that the Oyo/Osun Area Command remains steadfast in its core duties—generating revenue, suppressing smuggling, and facilitating legitimate trade—while seeking their partnership in educating residents about the harmful effects of smuggling on the nation’s economy.
