In a statement released on Friday, the Executive Chairman of LIRS, Dr. Ayodele Subair, explained that although the law sets January 31 as the official deadline each year, the extension was granted to give employers extra time to file accurate and complete returns.
Dr. Subair urged employers to treat tax compliance as a standard business responsibility, stressing the importance of filing returns on time to avoid penalties.
He also reminded employers that all annual returns must be submitted electronically through the LIRS eTax platform, as manual submissions are no longer accepted. Employers are therefore required to complete their filings exclusively via the official portal at https://etax.lirs.net.
According to him, the eTax platform is secure, easy to use and accessible around the clock. He further advised employers to ensure that the Tax Identification Numbers (TaxID) of all employees are correctly captured when submitting their returns.
