In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the government described the report as misleading and clarified that the actual contract sum is ₦123,217,218.82, not ₦229 million as claimed. He explained that the correct figure is publicly available and can be independently verified on the official e-portal of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).

Mefor stressed that the contract followed established procurement procedures, with both the BPP and the Ministry of Health overseeing the process to ensure transparency and accountability. He added that the contractor, Crystal Dove Construction Company Ltd, was properly mobilised and has since carried out the work as stipulated.

The commissioner expressed disappointment that Sahara Reporters failed to cross-check readily available facts before publishing the story, noting that the inaccurate report raises concerns about the intent behind it.

Reaffirming the administration’s stance, Mefor said the Soludo-led government remains fully committed to openness and prudent management of public resources.

“Under Governor Chukwuma Soludo, every naira of public funds is handled with care and in strict compliance with due process,” he said.

He concluded by firmly dismissing the allegations as unfounded, describing the publication as false and misleading.
