Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has once again demonstrated his administration’s dedication to transforming Anambra’s aviation sector with the commissioning of a modern Protocol Lounge at the Chinụa Achebe International Airport, Umueri.

Speaking at the event, the Governor explained that the new lounge is part of a broader, carefully planned strategy to upgrade airport infrastructure, improve passenger comfort, and position Anambra as a growing hub for both regional and international flights.
According to his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo highlighted that aviation development remains a major priority in his administration’s agenda. He emphasized that enhanced air travel facilities will stimulate job creation, expand skills opportunities, and deepen air connectivity within and beyond Nigeria.
“In building facilities like this Protocol Lounge, we’re not just enhancing the travel experience,” the Governor noted. “We are sending a clear message to investors that Anambra is ready for business. This is about economic growth, opportunities, and long-term development for our people.”
He also underscored the importance of working closely with federal aviation agencies and international partners to ensure the airport meets global safety and operational standards.
Aburime further explained that the newly opened Protocol Lounge is designed to offer a secure, comfortable, and efficient environment for visiting dignitaries, government delegations, and other high-profile travellers. The lounge includes exclusive check-in points, premium seating, private waiting areas, and strengthened security processes.
Stakeholders at the commissioning—including the Commissioner for Transportation, Barr. Patricia Igwebuike—expressed optimism that the upgraded airport will boost trade, tourism, and investment in Umueri and across Anambra State.
With the Chinụa Achebe International Airport already serving as a key pillar of the state’s aviation aspirations, the addition of the Protocol Lounge marks another significant step toward aligning Anambra with modern global aviation standards.
