The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service witnessed a smooth leadership transition on Friday, December 5, 2025, as Deputy Comptroller B. L. Adigun officially assumed duty as the new Acting Customs Area Controller. He succeeds Assistant Comptroller General E. J. Edelduok, who has joined the Service’s management team at headquarters.

The brief but significant ceremony, held in the Command’s conference hall, had in attendance senior officers, partner agency representatives, and other stakeholders—highlighting the Command’s culture of orderly and professional transitions.
In her parting remarks, ACG Edelduok expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs and the Service’s leadership for the opportunity to serve at KLT. She reflected on her tenure as rewarding and anchored on teamwork, discipline, and strong collaboration with stakeholders. She encouraged officers and partners to continue offering full support to the new Customs Area Controller.
DC Adigun, in his inauguration speech, thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs for entrusting him with the role. He applauded his predecessor’s outstanding service and pledged to deepen the Command’s achievements. He emphasized that his leadership will focus on revenue enhancement, efficient trade facilitation, strengthened anti-smuggling operations, and uncompromising integrity in service delivery.
He also called on officers and stakeholders to remain united in driving Customs’ mandate forward, stressing that collective effort is crucial to the Command’s continued success.
Stakeholders at the event commended the leadership transition, describing it as a reflection of organizational maturity and stability. They expressed confidence in the new Acting Area Controller’s capability to provide purposeful leadership and build on existing progress.
The ceremony included the official signing of handover documents, the symbolic handover of the Customs flag, and group photographs marking the formal transfer of authority.
With DC Adigun’s assumption of office, the KLT Command reaffirms its commitment to improved performance, stronger partnerships, and enhanced service delivery in the months ahead.
