The 25th National Women’s Conference of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) ended in a spectacular celebration at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, marking a milestone moment of empowerment, joy, and legacy.

The three-day event culminated in a glamorous Gala Night, where lucky participants won exciting prizes — including a brand-new GAC pickup truck, a new home, and a ₦20 million cash prize.
The highlight of the evening came when Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu personally announced the ₦20 million reward to Mrs. Florence Obayomi-Davies, a staff member of LASUTH. Other top winners included Mrs. Olusola Oduguwa, a retired Permanent Secretary who won a new home, and Ms. Thelma Abidemi Madume from Coker Aguda LCDA, who received the GAC pickup.
Additional prizes included return tickets to Ghana for Mrs. Adekemi Folorunsho and Mrs. Ayisat Yebode, and a trip to London for Mrs. Oluwatoyin Bolanle Falade.
In his closing remarks, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended COWLSO for its enduring impact over the past 25 years, describing it as “not just a legacy, but a movement that uplifts women and strengthens families across generations.”
“Over the past few days, we have celebrated 25 years of purpose, passion, and progress,” he said. “What began as a gathering of women with shared values has become a powerful force shaping communities and inspiring future leaders.”
The Governor paid special tribute to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, whose visionary leadership rejuvenated COWLSO during her time as First Lady of Lagos State, and praised Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu for sustaining and expanding the organisation’s influence.
He encouraged women to carry the COWLSO spirit into their communities by turning lessons into action — mentoring others, leading with compassion, and driving change.
“The next 25 years of COWLSO’s story will depend on how boldly we continue to mentor, to serve, and to lead,” he said.
In her remarks, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, First Lady of Lagos State and Chairperson of COWLSO, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the success of the Silver Jubilee edition themed “25 Years of Visionary Legacy: Inspiring the Next Generation.”
She described the conference as “a true celebration of women’s strength, resilience, and brilliance,” adding that it provided participants with valuable insights to make a difference in their homes, workplaces, and communities.
“Our time together has shown that when women unite with passion and purpose, the results are always inspiring,” she said. “The raffle draw winners remind us that every woman’s dream is valid and achievable.”
Dr. Sanwo-Olu also commended the Conference Planning Committee, chaired by Dr. (Mrs.) Olayemi Oke-Osanyitolu, for their dedication and excellence, and extended appreciation to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who joined virtually to deliver a warm goodwill message, as well as to all sponsors, partners, and supporters.
She urged participants to go forth as ambassadors of COWLSO’s vision, spreading values of leadership, compassion, and service.
“Let us carry forward the spirit of this Silver Jubilee — to inspire others, uplift families, and transform our communities,” she said.
The evening ended on a high note of music, dance, and sisterhood, as delegates celebrated COWLSO’s 25 years of impactful service and empowerment for women across Lagos and Nigeria.
In her vote of thanks, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, wife of the Deputy Governor, expressed gratitude to God and to everyone who contributed to the success of the event, urging participants to continue building stronger communities in line with the conference’s theme.
“This 25th anniversary is not just a celebration — it’s a call to action,” she said. “Together, we will keep inspiring the next generation of women leaders.”
