Dangote Cement, a subsidiary of Africa’s leading industrial conglomerate founded by Aliko Dangote, has officially commenced operations at its newly completed cement plant in Attingué, Côte d’Ivoire, located about 30 kilometers from Abidjan.

The announcement was made by Serge Gbotta, Managing Director of Dangote Cement Côte d’Ivoire, during a press conference held at Novotel Abidjan-Marcory.
Spanning 50 hectares, the state-of-the-art plant has an annual production capacity of 3 million metric tonnes, making it one of the largest Dangote Cement facilities outside Nigeria. The project represents a 100 billion CFA franc investment, reflecting the group’s commitment to industrial development, job creation, and regional self-sufficiency.
“This plant is not just an industrial site—it’s a symbol of confidence in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic future,” said Mr. Gbotta. “Our mission is to supply high-quality cement, produced locally to global standards, at affordable prices for all Ivorians.”
With the launch of the Attingué facility, Côte d’Ivoire becomes the 11th African nation to host a Dangote Cement operation, bringing the group’s total production capacity across the continent to 55 million tonnes per year. The plant is expected to create over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, empowering young professionals and supporting local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including transporters, retailers, and suppliers.
As part of its long-term investment in local talent, the company will also roll out training programs for engineers and technicians through the Dangote Academy, strengthening local expertise in industrial operations and management.
Stéphane Tchimou, Commercial Director of Dangote Cement Côte d’Ivoire, highlighted the plant’s transformative impact on the construction sector:
“Access to reliable, high-performance cement is essential for builders, contractors, and craftsmen. Through our extensive distribution network, we aim to ensure availability in every part of the country.”
He also announced that the company will introduce credit support and commercial assistance for small retailers, helping them grow sustainably within the value chain.
Beyond its industrial goals, Dangote Cement reaffirmed its social responsibility to the Attingué community. The company will invest in road construction, clean water supply, and local healthcare projects, working closely with local authorities and non-governmental organizations.

The Attingué plant will produce multiple cement grades, including CPJ 32.5R for masonry, CPJ 42.5N for buildings, and CPA 52.5 for heavy infrastructure, ensuring reliability for diverse construction needs. Designed with cutting-edge technology, the facility is set to reduce Côte d’Ivoire’s dependence on imports and establish the country as a regional hub for cement production and export.
