As part of this initiative, Abdullahi Saheed Olamilekan, who recently clinched the West African Boxing Union (WABU) and Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC) titles, will soon be officially appointed as a Council Ambassador in recognition of his remarkable achievements and dedication to the sport.

Hon. (Dr.) Adefuye stated that henceforth, any youth from Yaba LCDA who attains significant success at the state, national, or West African level will be honored and conferred with the title of Ambassador of the Council. This, he explained, is aimed at fostering healthy competition, promoting discipline, and motivating young people to channel their energy into meaningful and productive sporting activities.

“We are committed to nurturing a generation of focused, talented, and responsible young men and women through sports,” the Chairman said. “By celebrating our champions, we are sending a clear message that Yaba LCDA recognizes and rewards excellence. When young people see their peers being honored, they are inspired to work harder and believe in their own potential.”

Hon. (Dr.) Adefuye also highlighted the unifying power of sports, noting that it remains a vital tool for community development and youth engagement. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in youth-oriented initiatives, infrastructure, and programs that promote fitness, leadership, and skill development.

The announcement has been met with widespread commendation from residents, youth leaders, and sports enthusiasts across Yaba LCDA, who described it as a visionary and motivating move that will inspire greater community pride and participation among young people.

This milestone reflects the core philosophy of the “YABATUNTUN” administration, which continues to deliver on its people-focused promises—creating opportunities for Yaba’s youth to excel not only within the council area but also on larger stages across Nigeria and beyond.
