The Airtel Africa Foundation, through Airtel Nigeria, has launched its Undergraduate Tech Scholarship Programme, offering full scholarships to 100 Nigerian university students pursuing technology-related degrees.

This initiative, announced recently by Airtel Africa Chairman, Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, at a World Press Conference in Lagos, aims to support bright young Nigerians studying Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and other ICT-related fields.
Each selected student will receive a comprehensive scholarship covering tuition, accommodation, study materials, and a living stipend — from their first year until graduation. The goal is to remove financial barriers that often hinder students’ academic growth and allow them to focus fully on learning and innovation.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Ogunsanya highlighted that the programme underscores the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to empowering young Africans through education and technology.
“At Airtel Africa Foundation, we believe in creating opportunities where talent meets ambition. With this scholarship, we are investing in the next generation of tech leaders — giving them the means and the confidence to thrive in a fast-evolving digital world,” he said.
The beneficiaries will be drawn from 100-level students currently enrolled in public universities across Nigeria, including the University of Lagos (UNILAG), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), University of Benin (UNIBEN), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), and Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED).
Airtel Nigeria CEO, Dinesh Balsingh, added that education remains a core focus of Airtel’s corporate social responsibility.
“Our commitment to education has always been at the heart of what we do. These 100 new scholarships strengthen our efforts — alongside our partnerships with UNICEF on the Reimagine Education Programme, the Adopt-A-School project, and our ₦1 billion investment in the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative,” he noted.
“For us, the best way to shape the future is to equip it with knowledge and opportunity.”
The undergraduate scholarship programme reflects the Foundation’s broader FEED strategy — focusing on Financial Inclusion, Education, Environmental Protection, and Digital Inclusion — as part of Airtel Africa’s mission to foster sustainable development and bridge opportunity gaps across the continent.
