It was joy and gratitude all around in Warri, Delta State, as the Glo Foundation, through its “Giving Back Together” initiative, distributed food packs and household essentials to thousands of women from different local government areas. The outreach, held on Saturday at Urhobo College, Warri, brought together women from Warri North, Warri South, Aladja, Ughelli South, Udu, Uvwie and surrounding communities.

The programme, which targeted widows, the elderly, and other vulnerable women, is part of Globacom’s ongoing humanitarian effort to cushion the impact of rising living costs by providing essential food items.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Jumobi Mofe-Damijo, Globacom’s Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, explained that the company had rolled out similar interventions in other states, and it was now Delta’s turn. She stressed that the food drive focuses on women and children—the groups most affected in times of economic hardship.
“When we support women and children, we are supporting society as a whole,” she said.
Each beneficiary received a pack containing staples such as rice, garri, semovita, spaghetti, vegetable oil, noodles, tomato paste, sardines, and seasoning cubes.
The women expressed heartfelt gratitude. Princess Omo-Udoyo, from Ughelli North, beamed with excitement:
“I have never seen anything like this before. I thank God and Glo Foundation for this gift.”
For Mrs. Esther Okoro from Otu Jeremi in Ughelli South, words were not enough. Instead, she offered prayers for the telco:
“God will lift this company and the people behind it higher and higher. They will never lack anything. For what they have done for us today, I pray God will continue to protect and bless them.”
The Globacom Food Drive will continue in other major cities across Nigeria in the coming months, reaching even more women and families in need.
