The Federal Republic of Nigeria has officially endorsed the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) introduced by Chinese President Xi Jinping, affirming its commitment to building a fairer and more inclusive international system.

The endorsement was delivered in Abuja by Mr. Joseph Tegbe, Director-General of the Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), who spoke on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Government of Nigeria.
Mr. Tegbe described the GGI as a framework that echoes the hopes of nations striving for equity, inclusivity, and collective progress. He noted that its vision aligns closely with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes economic revitalization, social inclusion, and active global engagement.
He further emphasized that the initiative’s principles—sovereign equality, rule of law in international relations, and stronger multilateralism—mirror Nigeria’s long-standing foreign policy goals. Highlighting Nigeria’s leadership in Africa’s push for permanent representation on the UN Security Council, he also reaffirmed the country’s contributions to peacekeeping, conflict resolution, and regional cooperation through ECOWAS, the African Union, and the United Nations.
Looking beyond shared values, Mr. Tegbe pointed out the practical opportunities the GGI could unlock for Nigeria. From infrastructure and energy development to industrial growth and digital transformation, the initiative aligns with Nigeria’s priorities under the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy, which focuses on broadband expansion, fintech innovation, and youth empowerment.
“The Global Governance Initiative is more than a vision—it is a call to action,” Mr. Tegbe said. “Nigeria is ready to work alongside China and other global partners to turn this initiative into real progress for our people, for Africa, and for the world.”
