The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB), chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has approved major leadership appointments and promotions during its 63rd meeting held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

To fill recent vacancies and ensure balanced representation across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, the Board confirmed the appointment of four new Deputy Comptroller-Generals (DCGs) and twelve Assistant Comptroller-Generals (ACGs). The appointments were made strictly in line with the Federal Character Policy and provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
Those appointed as DCGs include:
• AB Mohammed (North-West)
• GO Omale (North-Central)
• OC Orbih (South-South)
• D Nnadi (South-East)
The 12 new ACGs are MP Binga, CA Awo, AB Shuaibu, AT Abe, K Mohammed, B Mohammed, TM Daniyan, B Oramalugo, OP Olaniyan, B Olomu, IK Oladeji, and CC Dim.
In addition, 3,312 senior officers were promoted across various ranks, alongside 202 junior officers promoted earlier by the Management. These promotions underscore the Service’s drive to reward merit and strengthen professionalism within its ranks.
The Board also reviewed Customs’ revenue performance for the first half of 2025, noting that the Service collected ₦3.68 trillion, exceeding its target by ₦390.2 billion (11.85%) and achieving 55.9% of the annual goal within six months. This was attributed to reforms, stronger compliance, and enhanced use of technology.
On trade facilitation, the Board commended progress on the National Single Window Project and the Trade Modernisation Project, with notable achievements such as the deployment of the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS, “B’Odogwu”), arrival of six cargo scanners, introduction of an Electronic Cargo Tracking System, improved cybersecurity, and new capacity-building programs.
In disciplinary matters, two officers were demoted for misconduct, while two others were reinstated after review — reflecting the Service’s commitment to fairness and accountability.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi (MFR), congratulated all newly promoted officers and urged them to justify the confidence placed in them, while reaffirming Customs’ commitment to transparency, innovation, and service excellence.
