The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is stepping up its push to modernize trade processes, working hand-in-hand with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the National Single Window (NSW) Secretariat to fast-track the Federal Government’s trade reform agenda.

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi (MFR), welcomed FIRS Executive Chairman, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, and NSW Project Director, Mr. Tola Fakolade, to the NCS Headquarters in Abuja for a high-level strategy session.
The meeting focused on the Nigerian National Single Window Project—an ambitious digital platform designed to connect all trade-related government agencies under one system—and mapped out the final steps toward its official rollout in the first quarter of 2026.
Calling the project “a game-changer for Nigeria’s trade landscape,” CGC Adeniyi emphasized that its success hinges on strong inter-agency cooperation.
“This is bigger than just technology,” he said. “It’s about creating a modern trade environment where government agencies work as one—delivering efficiency, transparency, and speed to our traders.”
Launched in April 2024 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Single Window aims to slash red tape, speed up cargo clearance, cut business costs, and make Nigeria a stronger competitor in global markets.
Dr. Adedeji reaffirmed FIRS’ commitment, stressing that the agency will “work closely to ensure the system lives up to its promise of boosting compliance, driving revenue growth, and making business easier for everyone.”
NSW Director Mr. Fakolade urged all agencies to stick to their integration deadlines to keep the Q1 2026 launch on schedule.
The session ended with a joint pledge from NCS, FIRS, and the NSW Secretariat to ramp up technical integration, maintain open communication, and keep stakeholders fully informed.
Once live, the platform is expected to boost revenue, create jobs, strengthen compliance, and deliver clear benefits for businesses, the government, and ordinary Nigerians alike.
