In a continued effort to strengthen healthcare delivery across Anambra State, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has upgraded the General Hospital in Anaku, Ayamelum LGA, with new electrical and mechanical installations.

The project, approved during the 17th Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting held on July 30, 2025, is part of the governor’s broader strategy to transform the health sector.
According to the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the initiative reflects the remarkable progress made in healthcare under Governor Soludo’s leadership. Over the past three years, his administration has earned national recognition, including a $1.2 million award for excellence in primary healthcare leadership—$500,000 for leading in the Southeast, and $700,000 for top performance nationwide.
Known as “Solution” for his dynamic governance, Governor Soludo has revitalized the state’s health system by upgrading primary health centers, building five new general hospitals, and equipping them with cutting-edge technology and skilled medical professionals.
His administration has also:
- Approved free antenatal care for pregnant women,
- Upgraded the Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Nawfia,
- Hired over 1,000 healthcare workers, and
- Launched telemedicine to reach more patients effectively.
In addition, contracts have been awarded for further work on the trauma centre at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Teaching Hospital in Awka.
Governor Soludo’s forward-thinking leadership continues to earn accolades. Most recently, Anambra ranked fourth in BudgIT’s 2024 State of States report for fiscal performance and sustainability—solidifying the state’s standing as a leader in both governance and healthcare.
