Dr. Elizabeth Egbetokun Rallies Police Officers’ Wives for Growth and Empowerment at 2025 POWA National Convention

The wife of the Inspector-General of Police and National President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, has called on police officers’ wives across the country to embrace personal growth and transformational leadership as a way to unlock their full potential.
Delivering her welcome address at the opening of the 2025 POWA National Convention—held at Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos—Dr. Egbetokun emphasized the importance of continuous learning and self-improvement. This year’s convention is themed “Unlocking POWA Potentials and Transformational Leadership.”
According to her, the annual gathering is more than a routine event—it’s a platform for unity, empowerment, and a renewed commitment to improving the welfare of police families. POWA, she explained, is a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting the wives, widows, orphans, and children of police officers, while also contributing to community development.
She highlighted the essence of transformational leadership, which centers on inspiring others through a shared vision, encouraging innovation, and fostering growth by building trust and integrity. “We believe every woman has untapped strengths,” Dr. Egbetokun said. “This convention is a reminder that we must be intentional about growth, challenge ourselves, and rise beyond limitations.”
Reflecting on POWA’s impact under her leadership, she shared that the association has empowered over 3,000 beneficiaries—including widows, orphans, and persons with disabilities—with items such as sewing machines, grinding machines, ovens, wheelchairs, starter packs, and flood relief materials. These efforts, she noted, align with her administration’s three-point agenda: Education for Development, Quality Healthcare Delivery, and Better Life for All.
She also expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government and all dignitaries for their support in making the convention a success. Attendees at the opening included representatives of the Lagos State Governor, the Deputy Governor, top police officials, military officers, traditional leaders, and other dignitaries.
The three-day convention features an inspirational opening ceremony, sports and empowerment activities at Onikan Stadium, and will close with a talent hunt and dinner at Federal Palace Hotel on August 1, 2025.
Dr. Egbetokun’s message was clear: the journey to unlocking personal and collective potential requires courage, dedication, and an unwavering belief in the power of women to lead change—within POWA and beyond.
