The Presidency has announced that the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, will continue in his role for another year beyond his scheduled retirement on August 31, 2025.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, approved the extension to allow Mr. Adeniyi to build on the progress already made and see through key reforms currently underway. These include the modernization of Customs operations, the rollout of the National Single Window Project, and Nigeria’s commitments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The President praised Mr. Adeniyi’s leadership and dedication, expressing confidence that the extra year will help strengthen the Customs Service’s core goals of enhancing trade, boosting revenue, and ensuring secure borders.
