Dangote Cement has announced plans to officially commission its new 3 million tonnes per annum (3Mta) grinding plant in Côte d’Ivoire by the third quarter of 2025. The move is expected to further cement the company’s leadership across Africa and significantly enhance its export capabilities within the region.

In a recent update to the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Chief Executive Officer Arvind Pathak expressed optimism about the company’s growing export business. He highlighted that clinker exports from Nigeria rose by 18.2%, with 18 successful shipments to Ghana and Cameroon—proof of the company’s deepening footprint across the continent and its ongoing commitment to regional trade and self-reliance.
Pathak emphasized that Dangote Cement remains focused on creating long-term value and strengthening operational efficiency. A key part of that strategy is reducing logistics costs and improving environmental impact. As part of this effort, the company has begun the phased rollout of 1,600 new trucks powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), expected to cut transport expenses and reduce emissions.
Commenting on the company’s second-quarter performance, Pathak described it as a strong showing driven by resilience, cost control, and smart investment. He noted a 41.8% increase in Group EBITDA to ₦944.9 billion, while Group profit jumped by an impressive 174.1%—results he credited to disciplined execution and a clear strategic direction.
Dangote Cement remains Africa’s largest cement producer, with a total production capacity of 52.0Mta across the continent. In Nigeria alone, it operates with 35.25Mta capacity, including the continent’s biggest plant in Obajana (16.25Mta), and other major sites in Ibese (12Mta), Gboko (4Mta), and Okpella (3Mta).
The company’s successful investments have not only made Nigeria self-sufficient in cement production but also transformed the country into an exporter of cement and clinker, supplying several neighboring nations.
Beyond Nigeria, Dangote Cement operates in multiple African countries: Cameroon (1.5Mta), Congo (1.5Mta), Ghana (2.0Mta), Ethiopia (2.5Mta), Senegal (1.5Mta), Sierra Leone (0.5Mta), South Africa (2.8Mta), Tanzania (3.0Mta), and Zambia (1.5Mta). These strategic expansions continue to strengthen its vision of becoming Africa’s leading provider of cement and infrastructure solutions.
