As state-backed endorsement events for Governor Abiodun Oyebanji reached a high point on Monday, July 28 in Ekiti State, a wave of frustration has emerged within his administration. Several key appointees—described as principled and committed Ekiti sons—have tendered their resignations, citing dissatisfaction with the direction of the government.
The latest to step down is Mr. Dada Abiodun John, who resigned his post as Senior Special Assistant on Solid Minerals. His departure came on the same day the governor’s allies staged a high-profile endorsement rally aimed at presenting a united front ahead of the 2026 governorship election. However, insiders say the resignation was a deliberate move to challenge the narrative of unanimous support.
In the past two months alone, at least three aides have exited the cabinet in protest. It began with Mr. Wale Ade Oba’s resignation in June, followed by the departure of Israel Adesokan, Senior Special Assistant on Security, and now Mr. Dada Abiodun. According to sources close to the matter, these resignations stem from dissatisfaction with the administration’s performance—particularly in areas like road infrastructure, education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.
