500 bags of rice and 100 mats were given to the victims of the fire tragedy in Batakashi Community in the Garki Local Government Area of Jigawa State, according to a statement released by the company’s spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina. During the penultimate week, Batakashi village was devastated by a late-night fire outbreak that destroyed over 45 homes, 35 silos, and numerous cattle, causing extensive destruction and forced relocation.
Muhammad Murtala, the interim Executive Secretary of the Jigawa Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), stated in his speech that the Aliko Dangote Foundation donated 40,000 bags of 10 kg rice to be distributed to Jigawa State’s impoverished and vulnerable citizens.
He expressed gratitude to the ADF for what he called a prompt intervention. Some of the residents expressed their happiness at the gesture and prayed to God for a bountiful recompense for the benefactor. Mr. Umar Abdullahi, one of the beneficiaries, claimed that the Foundation had provided assistance to the community that had just been hit by a fire. Mr. Usman Auwal, another beneficiary, expressed his happiness at the gesture, stating that the community has never been the same since the tragedy.
He prayed for peaceful cooperation between the people and praised the Jigawa Government and the Aliko Dangote Foundation for their assistance to the community. Mr. Adamu Kore, the Chairman of the Garki Local Government Area, who announced the commodity’s distribution, thanked the Foundation for its assistance. According to Mr. Kore, the palliative care would lessen the suffering of the community members impacted by the fire.
“We are extremely happy with the support of the Jigawa Government and the Aliko Dangote Foundation, as the donation has helped hundreds of families not just in Jigawa but all throughout the nation,” Kore stated. In a same vein, the Foundation gave the Taraba State government 20,000 bags of 10 kg rice for the benefit of those in need. The 16 chairmen of the Local administration Councils, who are cabinet members of the Taraba State administration, were shown the bags of rice by Bello Dan Musa, a representative of the Foundation.
According to Mr. Dan Musa, the chairman of the Aliko Dangote Foundation is dedicated to giving back to society, particularly to the underprivileged and marginalised. Alhaji Saleh Sa’ad, the chairman of the Taraba State Palliative Committee, represented the government. The annual national food program of the Aliko Dangote Foundation is anticipated to serve more than one million families.
