As Benson and Akinsiju Discuss Media and Security, Akpabio, Abiodun, Adeleke, and Other Dignitaries Attend the Sixth Timeline Awareness Lecture

Everything is prepared for the sixth edition of the Timeline Awareness Initiative Lecture and Awards, a sociopolitical forum aimed at enlightening and raising public awareness of important issues affecting society as a whole. The most recent iteration of the event, which has previously included notable figures including Dr. Larry Izamoje, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, and Alhaji Lai Muhammad. The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, 2025, in the Radisson Blu Hotel Ikeja GRA, Lagos, and will feature guest speakers, including Mr. Bayo Onanuga.

This edition features Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtd), a former chief of army staff, as the keynote speaker, together with Hon. Babajimi Benson, Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, and Dr. Niyi Akinsiju of Independent Media and Policy Initiative as guest speakers. The Timeline Nigeria online newspaper’s organisers and publishers claim that this year’s edition has been further organised to educate the public on the value of the media in addressing the nation’s security issues.

As a result, the theme is “The Importance of Media in Information Gathering, Disclosure in the Face of Security Challenges: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Achievements and Other Barriers.”

The Senate president, His Excellency Dr. Godswill Akpabio, will preside over the event, which will also include notable figures who will receive Timeline Nigeria awards of excellence, including His Excellency Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, his counterpart in Osun State, Dr. Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke, and His Excellency Sen. Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, chairman of the Senate committee on the South East Development Commission; Senators Adeola Olamilekan Yayi, Oluranti Adebule, and Dr. Mrs. Folashade Okoya. Attendees will have the chance to hear firsthand talks about the value of information collecting and the numerous accomplishments of the two-year administration of President Tinubu.
