His Excellency The Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, has expressed deep sorrow over the premature death of Dr. AbdulRauf Adekunle Adeniji, also known as “Kongo,” who was kidnapped and murdered by his captors in Abuja.

The late Adeniji was described as “a true progressive, an upright, loyal, and committed party stalwart who served the APC and the people of Ife Central Local Government with unmatched dedication and sincerity” in a condolence message signed by Oyetola, the current governor of Osun State and the state’s leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dr. Adeniji was the Director of Administration at the APC National Secretariat before his death. He was a distinguished administrator with a PhD in public administration who had previously served as an Assistant Registrar at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.
He gained the respect of people from all political backgrounds after he entered politics and was elected Chairman of the Ife Central Local Government, where he advocated inclusive management.
Oyetola underlined Adeniji’s remarkable ability to blend skill and humility, citing his years of experience as a seasoned administrator and in politics. “Dr. Adeniji’s contributions to party administration and governance will always be remembered,” the Minister said, adding that “this is a tragic and painful loss not only to his immediate family but also to our party, our state, and the nation at large.”
He was a grassroots organiser, a bridge builder, and a bright intellect. That he passed away in such a horrible and cruel manner is heartbreaking.
Oyetola conveyed her sincere condolences to the Adeniji family, the Ife community, and the APC community. He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive Dr. Adeniji’s sins, grant him Aljannah Firdaus, and give his family the strength to bear this irrevocable loss. “Inna ilayhi raji’un wa inna lillahi.” He pleaded with Allah (SWT) to accept his return and grant him peace for all eternity.
