Thousands of bags of rice are delivered to Kano, Lagos, seven states, and more will follow. As part of its continuing 2025 Food Intervention Program, the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has sent hundreds of thousands of sacks of rice to a number of states, including Kano, Bauchi, Nasarawa, Niger, Lagos, Abuja, Katsina, Borno, and Gombe States.

According to the Foundation, more States will get their delivery this week. In a program valued at N16 billion, the Aliko Dangote Foundation will provide a 10 kilogramme bag of rice to more than one million Nigerians from the 774 Local Government Areas. Aliko Dangote, the Foundation’s Chairman, launched the hunger-alleviating project in Kano as part of the 2025 intervention process.
The second edition of the Food Intervention Program, according to Mrs. Zouera Youssoufou, Chief Executive Officer of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, is a means of assisting governments and giving back to Nigerians, particularly the poor and the weak in society. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the flag-off in Kano, Mrs. Youssoufou stated that the activity demonstrates Mr. Dangote’s empathy and concern for the suffering of the weak and impoverished Nigerians.
According to Mariya Aliko Dangote, a trustee of the Foundation, the intervention is a component of the Foundation’s reaction to the nation’s present economic difficulties and is anticipated to provide some respite for low-income families. Mr. Ahmed Hashem, the Foundation’s representative at the flag-off in Bauchi State, promised that the organisation would not sit back and said that 25,000 bags of 10 kg rice had been given to the state.
Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, went on to say that 500 bags of rice would be distributed to each of the 20 LGAs, 10,000 bags would be given to churches and mosques because Christians observe the annual Lenten fast, and the remaining 5,000 bags would be distributed to a few key stakeholders.
Yakubu Garba, the Deputy Governor of Niger State, praised the Foundation over the weekend and mentioned that the State had received 30,000 bags of 10 kilogramme rice. He promised that a government commission would carefully choose the recipients before distributing the food. Similar to this, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State conveyed his sincere appreciation for the ADF supply of 30,000 bags, stating that the distribution would start right away to guarantee prompt assistance for the populace.
Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa III, the Emir of Keffi, praised the intervention as well and prayed for Dangote Industries Limited to continue to grow. In his remarks, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Lagos State Deputy Governor, commended Dangote for his compassion for the poor and his numerous efforts to lessen the suffering of Nigerians.
On behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dr. Hamzat welcomed the ADF delegation, which was led by its Trustee, Hajiya Mariya Aliko Dangote, and the Foundation’s Managing Director, Mrs. Youssoufou. He thanked the Foundation for consistently promoting charity and love among Lagosians, which he characterised as one of the key elements of the Ramadan and Lent season.
According to Sanwo-Olu, the Foundation’s leadership prioritises the welfare of the people over profit and wealth creation, as evidenced by the distribution of 80,000 bags of 10 kg rice. “Aliko Dangote is a Nigerian who has chosen to be different,” the governor stated.
