By awarding N500,000 business awards to nine National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, Fidelity Bank Plc has reinforced its dedication to financial inclusion, youth empowerment, and fostering a positive savings culture. The grants were given out as part of the Get Alert in Millions Season Six (GAIM 6) promotion, which aims to give N159 million in cash prizes to devoted consumers.
The promotion, which will run from November 2024 to August 2025, is aimed at a number of consumer groups, such as general consumers, students, and NYSC members. “This season of the GAIM promo aims to enhance the opportunities for loyal customers to win,” said Mr. Osita Ede, Divisional Head of Product Development at Fidelity Bank Plc.
“We made it clear that the goal of this marketing season is to advance diversity when we introduced the GAIM 6 promotion in November 2024. As a result, in addition to the weekly and monthly draws that were included in prior seasons, we have added more draws and raised the total prize money to N159 million.
We now have special draws that cater to different groups of our clientele, such as traders, women, students, and youth corps members. It’s crucial to remember that these client categories have the opportunity to win millions of naira in the monthly and grand draws that we will be holding until August 20, 2025,” Ede said. In the first quarter of the GAIM 6 campaign, nine NYSC customers from different branches around the country were chosen by random electronic drawing.
Bomane-Aziba Koromo from Nanka Close, Wuse Branch; Asabe Grace Adamu from University of Maiduguri Branch; David Agbai Agwu from Oshogbo Branch; Abdullahi Opeyemi Olajuwon from Airport Road, Lagos Branch; Eghosa George Orhue from Ado Ekiti Branch; Oluwatosin Emmanuel Olowolayemo and Ekpeno Aniekan George from Uyo 2 Branch; Derryk Chidubem Okafor from Trans-Ekulu Branch; and Eghosa George Orhue from Ado Ekiti Branch.
One of the entrepreneurship grant beneficiaries, Chidubem Okafor, expressed his joy and appreciation to Fidelity Bank for the award, stating that the money will help him realise his business goals. He said, “When they first presented the initiative at our orientation camp, I thought it was a scam, but now I am genuinely honoured to receive this support from Fidelity Bank.”
This gift will go a long way in helping me fulfil my entrepreneurial aspirations, and I promise to make the most of it,” In a similar vein, David Agwu, who also won the draw, said, “When I got the call, I thought it was a prank,” expressing his amazement at the unexpected victory. It was hard to believe because I never applied for anything. But I knew it was real when they sent me evidence. I sincerely appreciate this chance.
To build a long-lasting business, I intend to use the funds for digital skill development and vocational training, especially in the areas of fashion and painting. The awardees will receive free business advisory and training sessions at the recently opened Fidelity SME Hub, situated at 22, Lanre Awolokun Street, Gbagada Phase 2, Lagos, in addition to the N500,000 entrepreneurship prize.
