He will tell the tale of Larry Madowo, the program’s host, who climbed from the slums of Lagos to international renown. Derrick Cobinnah, a Ghanaian who has been using his “Forces Help Africa” initiative to improve the lot of Ghanaian veterans of war, will also be on the show.
Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, Patoranking’s full name, is from Onicha, Ebonyi State. On May 27, 1990, he was born in Lagos. He is an Afrobeats and reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter from Nigeria who began his career performing street music.
His hit albums, God Over Everything (2016), Wilmer (2019), Three (2020), and World Best, which came out last year, have earned him prestigious honours such as the Headies, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, and the MTV Africa Music Award.
Patoranking has promoted youth development in Nigeria by using his wealth and his role as a regional goodwill ambassador for the UNDP.
Derrick Cobinnah, his counterpart, has been using his non-governmental organisation, Forces Help Africa, to provide assistance and support to war veterans who are ill, injured, homeless, or otherwise displaced.
On DSTV Channel 401, the current edition of African Voices began airing on Saturday. Reruns will air on Sunday at 7 p.m. and Monday at 4 a.m.
