When a Max Air Boeing 737, registered 5N-MBD, landed on Runway 06/24 at MAKIA on 28 January 2025, at 22:50 hours, the nose wheel landing gear collapsed and the rear tyre exploded. There were six crew members and fifty-three passengers on board.

Thankfully, none of the crew members or passengers were hurt. Emergency services reacted swiftly, and the event was managed according to the emergency response plan.
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), which is currently investigating the event to identify its underlying cause, has towed the aircraft to Bay 5.
Following cleaning and the return of regular flight operations, the runway was opened at 8:00 a.m. Mrs. Obiageli Orah Director of Consumer Protection and Public Affairs.
