The Federal Government, through the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced plans to establish an aircraft manufacturing facility in Nigeria. The initiative, which is in collaboration with XeJet and indigenous financial institutions, aims to position Nigeria as a regional hub for aviation services.

Speaking at the launch of XeJet’s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility and flight support centre in Abuja, Keyamo highlighted the government’s commitment to advancing the nation’s aviation industry and supporting local operators.
“This initiative aligns perfectly with our vision to enhance local capacity and strengthen Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem,” Keyamo stated. “Since assuming office, we’ve been focused on attracting MRO facilities to Nigeria, just like those available in other parts of the world. To our delight, we found the solution we were seeking abroad right here at home, thanks to this remarkable collaboration between XeJet and local banks.”
Keyamo underscored the importance of the project, noting that it includes additional facilities, such as a training centre for aviation professionals. He described this as a “milestone achievement” for the sector.
“This development is not only designed to meet Nigeria’s aviation needs but also to attract users from across the West African sub-region. The ultimate goal is to establish this facility as a regional centre of excellence,” he added.
The move is expected to boost the aviation industry, create employment opportunities, and place Nigeria on the map as a leader in aerospace development within the region.
