Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has introduced the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025 and initiated a special security operation known as “Operation Udo Ga-Achi” in a significant attempt to address the security issues confronting Anambra State. “The Homeland Security Law 2025 provides a framework for community/citizens’ ownership and participation in sustainable security and social re-engineering,” the governor said when he signed the legislation earlier today.

Operation Udo Ga-Achi is a special intervention force that supports routine policing, according to Governor Soludo. Its goals include improving intelligence collection, rewarding informants, accelerating reaction times, and swiftly eliminating criminals from all areas of Anambra State. The governor pointed out that the state’s security issues are intricate and multifaceted, necessitating a thorough and long-term solution. He underlined that the state administration is committed to combating crime and making Anambra the safest state in Nigeria.
The following are important elements of the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025: Agunechemba, a new vigilante architecture, was established to support and enhance federal security forces. Technology deployment, such as surveillance cameras with artificial intelligence (AI), tracking systems, and command-and-control systems The creation of a State Call Centre including toll-free numbers The monthly distribution of funding to localities for security support A bonus of N10 million is paid each month to Divisional Police Offices that have no violent crime reports.
The governor also declared that the state government would start constructing new detention facilities and reevaluate the support given to current ones. He added that in order to determine the top LGAs with a history of violent crime, the government will collaborate with the Commissioner of Police and DSS. Governor Soludo urged each village to create and implement its own “cleansing or restoration program” and urged them to establish security governance institutions immediately.
Additionally, he reaffirmed the state government’s offer of friendship and amnesty to drug traffickers, kidnappers, cultists, and other criminal groups, urging them to give up their weapons and commit to rehabilitation. The governor urged everyone to support the state government’s efforts to ensure Anambra State’s safety and security, emphasising that security is a shared responsibility.
