Executives from the Nigerian Association of Social and Resourceful Editors (NASRE) met strategically with the Nigeria Customs Service’s (NCS) Ogun 1 Area Command, emphasising the value of cooperation in advancing trade facilitation and national security. NASRE thanked Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu, the recently appointed head of the Customs Area, on his appointment during the visit.

The association praised his leadership abilities and voiced hope that he could improve the operational effectiveness of the command. The command’s public relations officer, Mr. Hammed Bujoye Oloyede, welcomed the NASRE delegation and reaffirmed Comptroller Shuaibu’s dedication to Ogun 1 Command’s primary missions, which include facilitating commerce, securing the border, and generating income.
“Under his direction, the command is committed to encouraging creativity, collaboration, and proactive interaction with border communities and other interested parties.
“Achieving sustainable growth and security in our operations requires adherence to these principles,” Mr. Oloyede said. He also underlined the necessity of solid collaborations with trade associations such as NASRE in order to guarantee correct information distribution and to foster public confidence in the Customs Service’s operations.
Adeyemi Obadimu, the Public Relations Officer for NASRE, responded by stating that the organisation is keen to work with the Ogun 1 Command in the fields of public education and media advocacy. He emphasised how the Customs Service’s objectives of accountability and openness are in line with NASRE’s role in advancing truthful and moral journalism.
“We are confident that this collaboration will promote greater public-Customs Service understanding, particularly on matters pertaining to border security, trade policies, and economic development,” Mr. Obadimu stated.
The NASRE delegation underlined how crucial it is to use media outlets to inform the public about the difficulties and achievements of the Nigeria Customs Service, especially in terms of preventing smuggling and maintaining national security.
