Nigeria’s top-performing governor in terms of primary healthcare delivery is Anambra State’s Charles Soludo. This follows Soludo’s groundbreaking healthcare reforms during his 32 months in power, which included a thorough decentralisation of the system. He received honours in two different categories: regional and national.

He received the highest ratings both nationally and in the Southeast. The United Nations Children and Education Fund (UNICEF), the Federal Ministry of Health, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation presented the esteemed prizes.
According to a statement from Christian Aburime, the chief press secretary for Soludo, the governor has built five new general hospitals and renovated primary healthcare facilities as part of his infrastructure drive to modernise the healthcare industry. These hospitals are outfitted with top-notch facilities and qualified staff to provide effective, reasonably priced, and high-quality healthcare services.
The governor established telemedicine for effective healthcare solutions and hired 1,000 health professionals, including physicians, nurses, consultants, chemists, and medical laboratory technicians, to further improve the industry. Anambra was given $1,200,000 in total for the accolades, $500,000 for the Southeast accomplishment, and $700,000 for the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge’s overall performance.
These demonstrate Soludo’s dedication to and wise investment in the state’s healthcare system.
