To address the need for a significant decrease in the cost of governance in Nigeria, Dr. Austin Izagbo, a prominent politician, businessman, and former Delta State Commissioner for Youths, Sports, Social Development, and Culture, has called for significant policy reforms, political will, and stakeholder engagement. giving a public lecture on the subject of “STRATEGIC RIGHT SIZING OF THE COST OF GOVERNANCE” at the University of Lagos, which is also the location of the Strategic Business School’s convocation and graduation ceremony for distance learning students affiliated with the European American University in the United Kingdom. President Ahmed Bola Tinubu was praised by Dr. Austin Izagbo for having the guts to re-examine and highlight the Oronsaye Committee Report, which was all but forgotten, on the necessity of streamlining Nigeria’s cost of governance. However, in order to lower Nigeria’s current excessive cost of government, Dr. Austin Izagbo urges more urgency in adopting the aforementioned Report.Additionally, he advocated for fewer Political Aides to be appointed by the ruling political elite. He warns that, as is the case in many government circles today, obtaining and maintaining political office should be centred on serving the public rather than being a chance for “job for the boys” or self-aggrandizement. Other speakers at the event included Prof. Joseph Mba, CEO of Strategic Business School, who spoke about Nigeria in Nostalgia; Prof. Edmond John Kersey De-Polanie Patrikois of the European American University, UK, who spoke about Education without Boundaries; Prof. Noble Ogugua, who spoke about Maladministration in Nigeria, Burden & Interrogation; and Prof. Misan Fregene, who spoke about Strategic Leadership of a Nation: Insight from Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Finland. Highlights of the talks and lectures focused on the following issues that require urgent attention: *Call for action to address the problem of financial waste in governance by increasing government accountability and transparency. * Improved efficacy and efficiency in the administration of public expenditures. * Make sure our institutions are strengthened even further. Instead of being viewed as a nation * of strong men and women, Nigeria should be viewed as a nation * of strong institutions. * Strict measures should be put in place to implement performance-based budgeting. E.. functions and procedures in government are introduced. * A strong call for all Nigerians to get more involved in politics, hold our leaders to higher standards, and hold them more accountable for their actions. By doing so, we can create a more open, accountable, and successful Nigeria. Florence Izagbo, who received a Doctor of Business (DBA) in Strategic Education Management, Tessa Obiageli Anota (DBA) in Strategic Administration & Leadership, and Victor Olowo (DBA) in Strategic Leadership & Governance were among the graduates who received certificates and awards, which was the event’s high point.
