The premier Nigerian brewing firm, Nigerian Breweries Plc, won Best Excise Trader at the inaugural Comptroller General of Customs Awards, which took place in Abuja on Friday, November 29, 2024.

The corporation, which came out on top among other contenders like British American Tobacco and International Tobacco, was recognised for its exceptional compliance with excise tax payments to the Federal Government. Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller General of Customs, spoke at the award event and said Nigerian Breweries Plc’s win as Best Excise Trader was well-earned considering how much it has contributed to Nigeria’s tax collection over the last year.
According to Adeniyi, NB Plc is still among the respectable businesses that regularly pay excise taxes to the federal government in full compliance. Sade Morgan, the Corporate Affairs Director of NB Plc, said shortly after accepting the award that it highlights the company’s solid relationships with the Nigeria Customs Service and its steadfast dedication to making a good economic impact. The company is proud to be the only brewery nominated in any of the award categories, Morgan said, adding that the accomplishment demonstrates the team’s commitment and represents the company’s continuous efforts to “Winning With Nigeria.”
She also promised that the business would continue to execute its responsibilities by making sure that its excise tax was paid to the agency on time. “The award is a powerful motivator that will push the business to achieve more.” We are steadfastly dedicated to carrying out our civic responsibilities by paying all taxes owed to the federal government as we grow our business beyond beer.

Representatives from the National Assembly, the Ministry of Finance, and law enforcement organisations were among the important parties present at the ceremony.
