As a short-term solution to the nation’s financial problems, Professor Sunday Adebisi, who is the Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr. Professorial Chair in Entrepreneurial Studies at the University of Lagos, has proposed a new economic model known as “New Enterprise Nigeria” (NEN).

According to Professor Adebisi, who was speaking at the second edition of the Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr. Professorial Chair in Entrepreneurial Studies lecture, “Navigating the present stormy Nigerian Economy: The New Enterprise Nigeria as the anchorage,” at the University of Lagos on Thursday, the NEN intervention is the most realistic means of reviving the nation’s economy and achieving long-term growth.
He revealed that the “New Enterprise Nigeria” (NEN) Intervention, which is based on accountability and transparency, consists of infrastructure projects that are suitable for all purposes, the integration of all ministries’ operations in accordance with Nigerian needs, a 25-year food security plan, the cessation of borrowing and the push for a debt rescheduling plan, and the digitisation of Bureau-de-change transactions in Nigeria, all of which will contribute to the country’s economic revival.
The Don also emphasised investment in innovation drivers, managing the elimination of subsidies, combating inflation, international and ongoing youth reorientation, wealth creation prospects, and the development of jobs through enterprise and startup.
Professor Folasade Ogunsola, the institution’s vice chancellor, thanked Dr. Mike Adenuga for working with the university to expand the boundaries of entrepreneurial academic knowledge and skill acquisition at the school during her welcome remarks at the lecture. She pointed out that the Adenuga Professorial Chair gift made this collaboration feasible.
Professor Taiwo Osipitan, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dr. Adenuga Professorial Chair, revealed that the purpose of the annual lecture was to educate the public on how to address the country’s economic issues and generate profitable jobs.
The Mike Adenuga Professorial Chair in Entrepreneurial Studies was established in 2008 with the goal of advancing entrepreneurship research, expanding the nation’s understanding and use of entrepreneurship, and fostering the development of new businesses.
