Balsingh joins the Airtel Africa Group’s Executive Council as a result of this appointment. He succeeds Carl Cruz, who at the end of October went back to his native Philippines.

After being appointed as the Managing Director and CEO of Airtel Tanzania in 2022, Balsingh, who has vast experience in the telecom sector, returns to Nigeria. He has extensive knowledge of the Nigerian telecom industry because he was the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Airtel Nigeria before relocating to Tanzania.

Balsingh has worked in the telecom sector for more than 24 years. He started with Hutchison Essar in 2000 and later moved to Airtel India in 2006 as a Marketing Director before joining Tata Docomo in 2011. In 2013, Balsingh became the Marketing Director of Airtel Nigeria, and in 2018, he became the CCO.

Through smart pricing, product improvements, and methodical project execution, Balsingh guided Airtel Tanzania to record growth throughout his tenure, which produced significant increases in Revenue industry Share (RMS) in the fiercely competitive industry.

“Mr. Balsingh’s extensive telecommunications experience and strong operational execution, coupled with his knowledge of the Nigerian market, will be instrumental in further supporting our corporate purpose of transforming lives across Nigeria,” stated Sunil Taldar, the CEO of Airtel Africa, in reference to the leadership changes.

Balsingh graduated from Thiagarajar School of Management with a Master of Business Administration.
