No order for employees to switch their salary accounts — FG Federal employees have not received instructions to change the financial institutions associated with their Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System salary accounts, according to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.

The OAGF reassured staff members that IPPIS prioritizes their well-being and would not take any actions that could lead to misunderstandings or unnecessary anxiety, according to a statement issued Monday by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations.
The explanation comes after several banks undergo system improvements, raising fears about possible instructions that would require employees to switch bank accounts for salary payments. The OAGF emphasized that each employee’s desire to switch salary accounts is still up to them, and that the IPPIS Office has not issued any general orders to that effect because there is no basis for them.
Additionally, the OAGF called on financial institutions to boost customer confidence by providing dependable and regular service to those who have chosen to place their income with them. It emphasized the function of designated agencies in evaluating the soundness and stability of financial institutions and conveyed faith in their ability to carry out their responsibilities.
According to the statement, “The IPPIS Office has not issued any general directive to this effect because there was no reason to do so,” the OAGF said, adding that any application for a change of salary account is always a personal decision of the individual involved.
Financial institutions were given the duty by the OAGF to put the appropriate plans into place in order to increase customer confidence and ensure that their responsibilities to Nigerians in general and to those whose wages are domiciled in these financial institutions are fulfilled effectively.
“The OAGF expressed optimism that these agencies are up to the task and noted that there are agencies statutorily mandated to determine the health and viability of financial institutions.” Workers were instructed to properly follow official processes for salary account updates on the IPPIS platform if they have valid grounds to do so.
