When I moved out of my parents’ house and obtained a place of my own early this year, everything changed. I started considering having a television after buying the required furniture and appliances for the property.
I could purchase a smart TV and use Nigerian streaming services, or I could purchase a standard LED TV and sign up for a cable account. Due of my limited funds, I had to carefully weigh my possibilities. In addition to monthly subscription fees, I would also need to pay for internet access in order to watch the shows if I purchased a smart TV, which is more costly than a traditional TV, and signed up for multiple streaming services.
The range of shows I could watch would also be restricted, in addition to the price. However, I would have to sign up for a cable account if I decided to get an LED TV. This would entail paying for a subscription plan and the required equipment.
I would, however, have access to a vast array of stuff regardless of the price. In the end, I chose this course of action. I then had to decide which cable service to sign up for. I discovered that GOtv was giving their GOtenna a price cut as I was doing my study. I was able to save roughly ₦30,000 by purchasing the GOtenna and decoder for less than half the normal price, despite the fact that they had lately raised the pricing of their subscription packages.
Because the Max package contained all of my favorite channels, including Discovery ID, E! Entertainment, Africa Magic Epic, Yoruba, and movie networks, I chose to subscribe to it. In addition, I just had to renew the subscription once a month. Everything needed for installation was included in the package, thus the installation process was relatively smooth.
I needed a pole to mount the GOtenna, and the distance between my decoder and the pole’s placement was the only reason I had to buy additional cables. In order to watch on the go or download my favorite episodes for later viewing, I also downloaded the GOtv Stream app. I’ve been using GOtv for more than three months, and I’m still happy with the service. There is more entertainment than I can handle, and the visual quality is clear.
Because I want to watch all of my favorite shows at once, I frequently find myself flipping between the channels. The only drawback is that, given how often I go across the stations, I might need to change the batteries in my remote control.
