During Thursday’s Providers Enrollee Forum webinar, which had as its theme “Medical Ethics and the Delivery of Quality Care,” the Managing Director, Dr. Patrick Korie, made the call from Lagos.
The webinar, according to Dr. Korie, was a standard gathering where the HMO and all parties involved examined how they could offer best practices for everyone’s benefit. According to him, the webinar was also intended to guarantee the provision of high-quality healthcare at a reasonable cost that was efficient in using providers.
According to Korie, considering medical ethics and how to treat patients was crucial when considering the current state of the economy. He asserts that while considering medical ethics and their effects on patient care, it may be crucial that we talk about ethics from both the perspective of the patient and the physician.
According to the guest speaker, Rev. Fr. Udochukwu Ugorgi, patients nowadays are growing more litigious-conscious as a result of their increased awareness of their rights. In addition to having extensive knowledge of his medical specialization or sector, the practitioner must also be aware of his obligations in the workplace.
To prevent liability cases, he or she needs to be knowledgeable about the laws and professional ethics. The practitioner must also understand the importance of defense practice and the necessity of foreseeing legal challenges before they arise. Additionally, the practitioner needs to be ready to defend themselves in court or before a professional disciplinary body.

To maintain the application of policies and procedures and foster a positive culture in clinical settings, Ugorgi suggested the following: Hospital Ethics Committee, Ethics Rounds, Patients Ethics Education, Patients and Physician Bill, and Grand Medical Ethics Consult.
