Egbetokun revealed the information at an Abuja meeting with senior authorities, including commissioners of police. He claims that current data shows a notable decline in crime rates in several important categories, including notable progress against violent crimes including cybercrime, armed robbery, kidnapping, and banditry.
“The Nigeria Police Force successfully rescued 369 abducted individuals between July and October of this year, retrieved 416 firearms of various makes, retrieved 178 vehicles, and confiscated 3,672 rounds of ammunition of various calibres.
” Furthermore, 10,852 people were taken into custody nationwide. “Oh,” he said. According to Egbetokun, the police were sufficiently preparing for the election of the governor of Ondo. “I urge all involved to replicate and build upon the successes recorded in the Edo State election as we prepare for the upcoming off-cycle gubernatorial election in Ondo State,” he added.
“We need to make sure that the security architecture is strong and that officers carry out their responsibilities with the utmost professionalism and impartiality. Our goal is to create a safe space where citizens can practice their democratic rights without fear or coercion.
“We will keep working with the Independent National Electoral Commission, other security agencies, and interested parties to make sure that the election in Ondo State is free, fair, and credible, enabling all voters to exercise their rights without worrying about being intimidated.”
In order to guarantee the safety of people and property during the ember months, he added that patrols would be stepped up and that additional safeguards would be implemented.
