During his inaugural speech on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the De Rembrandt Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, he made this declaration. In order to promote technology access, innovation, and best practices, Dr. Oduntan emphasised the significance of international relationships.
He underlined how important these activities are to increasing productivity, cutting expenses, and raising the standard of feed produced in Nigeria.”We pledge to make sure each and every FIPAN member has the tools and resources necessary to compete in this difficult business environment,” Dr. Oduntan said.
Additionally, he signalled a strategic change in direction by extending FIPAN’s work beyond chicken feed to significantly assist pigs and ruminants.Pioneering executives Chief Chinedu Ahamneze, Dr. Oyedele Oyediji, and recently elected president Raymond Isiadinso were among the many FIPAN members in attendance, along with representatives from the U.S. Soya, feedmillers, suppliers of raw materials, farmers, importers, and other industry stakeholders. As the former president of the Poultry Association of Nigeria, the group managing director of Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Limited, the company that invented the Noiler bird, and the manufacturer of natnudO chicken, beef, fish, and eggs, Dr. Oduntan was recognised for his noteworthy contributions to the industry.
During his speech, Dr. Oduntan called on FIPAN members to band together to further the industry’s cause. He emphasised that the sector’s survival hinges on stabilising and lowering feed and food prices while cooperating with government programs to increase the purchasing power of the general public.
The importance of feed in the livestock business is highlighted by the fact that global feed production has topped 1 billion tonnes yearly, producing nearly $400 billion, according to the International Feed business Federation. The animal feed industry in Nigeria has enormous potential; it is estimated to be worth $3.5 billion.
Dr. Oduntan’s administration is committed to maximising this potential by forming strategic alliances, advocating on behalf of members, and offering strong assistance, all of which will have a major positive impact on Nigeria’s agricultural and economic development.
In the future, the administration of Dr. Oduntan intends to give priority to creative policies and programs that will fortify the industry and improve food security in Nigeria.
He stated that a 50% reduction in post-harvest losses and an increase in maize yield, for example, from 2 tonnes per hectare to 6 tonnes per hectare, could result in a notable increase in efficiency and profitable growth throughout the value chain. He emphasised the need to maintain faith in Nigeria because there is a better tomorrow.
