His Excellency, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, a former governor of Zamfara State and current senator representing the Zamfara West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has warned Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal to stop assigning blame and making careless remarks about his predecessor Bello Matawalle.

Senator Yari stated that since all governors before him had dealt with varying degrees of security difficulties and had done their best to address them, the governor should do everything within his power to combat insecurity and bedevil the state.
Yari, the eight-year governor of the state, claimed he was the first to confront an unsolvable, difficult security issue but that he did his utmost to ensure that it was resolved. Like any other governor in the north-west, he claimed that Matawalle had done his best to address the insecurity issues facing the state, including making amends with the bandits’ leadership.
He said Dauda ought to have followed suit in dealing with the bandits instead of playing the blame game, which he claimed was pointless because it would not solve the issue.
The blame game would not help at all, he said, therefore the governor should host a stakeholders meeting to get guidance and assistance to address the issues the state is experiencing.
According to Yari, Bello Matawalle, the state’s minister of defence, has been doing his best to fulfil his duties since taking office and ought to be seen as the state’s legitimate representative in the federal system rather than someone who is out to get him.
He issued a warning to the political elite of Zamfara, telling them to work together to advance the state instead of wasting time on pointless political squabbling that would only make things worse.
