Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, the governor of Anambra State, has approved the nomination of Dr. Law Mefor, who took the oath of office as the state’s new commissioner of information.

Sir Paul Nwosu, who left the Anambra State Government after more than ten years of honourable service, is replaced by Dr. Mefor. Renowned academic and public intellectual Dr. Law Mefor brings a plethora of experience to his new role.
His academic record is impressive; he has degrees in general and applied psychology from the University of Jos, forensic psychology from Nasarawa State University, public administration from the University of Calabar, and a postgraduate diploma in journalism from the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja.
He also holds a Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. As an educator and media consultant, Dr. Mefor has spoken at the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja, for more than ten years.
In addition, he has made a substantial impact as a syndicated columnist, penning provocative pieces for The Cable as well as other online and traditional publications. Over ten years of public service were dedicated to Dr Mefor’s work in the Nigerian Senate as a Special Assistant to the Senate President, Deputy Senate President, and Senior Legislative Aide. His extensive participation in policy research and legislative processes gives his appointment a useful depth. Dr. Mefor is a prolific writer who has produced a number of noteworthy works, such as the political study “The Audacity of Power,” the biographical work “The Senator Ken Nnamani Portrait,” and artistic works like the poetry collection Phantasmagoria and the novels Dream Abuja and Corpers’ Odyssey.
Governor Soludo wished Dr. Mefor well in his new position and expressed confidence in his abilities to use his wealth of knowledge to fortify the state’s communication apparatus and cultivate a more lively information ecosystem to support the government’s developmental initiatives.
The Governor also wished Sir Paul Nwosu the best of luck in his future undertakings and praised him for his commitment and contributions throughout his time serving as Commissioner for Information.
