Alhaji Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, has presented the House of Assembly with the N99,221,503,569.90 2024 State Supplementary/Amendment Budget, which will pay for salaries and other initiatives his administration has proposed.

The MPs were asked to consider passing the supplemental budget as soon as possible in a letter that was read aloud by Speaker Hon. Ismail Falgore during Tuesday’s plenary session.
Falgore claimed that the governor was requesting the House’s consent in accordance with Section 122(A and B) of the 1999 constitution in order to expedite and carry out high-priority projects meant to enhance the welfare of the state’s residents. He added that N33,761,174,555.64 has been set aside from the Supplementary budget for personnel costs, N34,492,888,103.44 for overhead costs, and N30,969,440,940.80 for capital expenditures.
Shortly after the letter was presented to the House, Musa Shanono, the State’s Commissioner for Planning and Budget, spoke with reporters. “The state’s starting budget is N437, 338, 312, 787 for 2024.
The combined amount of the original budget and the extra budget that was signed into law will be N536, 559, 816, 357.84 in the 2024 budget.
In addition to reiterating the government’s commitment to prioritising the development of human capital, infrastructure, health, and education, Shanono emphasised that the supplemental budget will also pay for the new minimum wage.
