The nomination of new directors general for the Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) has been authorised by President Bola Tinubu. The NIA has appointed Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed as its new Director-General.

Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi has taken over as the DSS’s new director general. Since entering the NIA in 1995, Ambassador Mohammed has enjoyed a distinguished career in the foreign service.
After serving in a variety of capacities, he was elevated to the position of Director and appointed as the leader of the Nigerian mission in Libya.
The 1990 Bayero University of Kano graduate had worked in the State House in Abuja, North Korea, Pakistan, and Sudan. Mr. Adeola Ajayi, the new Director-General of the DSS, ascended through the ranks to become the Assistant Director-General of the Service. He had held the position of State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi at different points in time.
The previous heads of the DSS and NIA resigned, and these new appointments took their place. President Tinubu expects the newly appointed security chiefs to work tirelessly to realign the two intelligence agencies for improved outcomes.
He also gives them the task of applying their experience to address the security challenges facing the nation by collaborating more closely with sister agencies and operating in perfect harmony with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The President wishes the departing Directors-General of the two crucial intelligence organisations luck in their future undertakings and expresses gratitude for their services to the country.
