Hedeja Bashir, not my assistant “I promise to ensure a thorough investigation,” Bello Matawalle, Minister of State Defence, says.

Former Zamfara State governor Bello Matawalle, who is currently the Hon. Minister of State Defence, has declared that he will see to it that Bashir Hadeja, who was taken into custody early this week on charges of treason, terrorism, transnational crimes, and other offences against the country, is thoroughly investigated.

In response to enquiries from the media regarding the scandal surrounding Bashir Hadeja’s role in funding the most recent nationwide #EndBadGovernance campaign, notably in Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna, and Abuja, the minister was speaking. In light of the significance and detrimental effects of the exhibits found in Bashir Hadeja’s mobile phone and his confessions, Matawalle said that no amount of press, blackmail, or columny campaign by some of Bashir Hadeja’s accomplices, particularly in the online media space, who embarked on junk journalism to tarnish the minister’s hard-earned reputation, could make him abandon the investigation.

The minister claimed to be aware of the cooperation between Bashir Hadeja and a few trash and careless journalists who strayed from the centre of professional journalism and engaged in extortion and columnist campaigns, wherein they were repeatedly paid enormous sums of money by their sponsors to blackmail him through Bashir Hadeja and other proxies.

He declared that the suspect could not go free after it was discovered that he was in control of a horrifying network of syndicates that was used to commit crimes both inside and outside of Nigeria, especially in the 36 states of Nigeria and other West African states. He claimed that the suspect has been making startling disclosures about people who are trying to undermine President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, including some so-called journalists, with the intention of ending the country’s democracy.

“We have several increminating and astonishing facts against the suspect, and investigation is currently ongoing, and we will bring to book all those he mentioned during the interrogations to face similar interrogations,” stated the state minister
