Julius Abure’s purported court triumph has been exposed by the Labour Party National Transition Committee (NTC), which has labelled it a “sham” and a “fraudulent” attempt to mislead the public and party members. Party candidates have been cautioned by the NTC not to engage in Abure’s “dangerous” behaviour as it may result in their defeat in the election.

The NTC claims that Abure’s court action was a “Nollywood-style” farce put on by him and his proxy buddy Lawrence Erewele in order to get Justice J.K. Omotosho, an unknowing judge, to rule in favour of them.
According to the NTC, Abure purposefully left out the Labour Party NTC from the lawsuit in order to guarantee an easy win. The NTC notes that the case was dismissed by Justice Omotosho, who specifically declared that the court lacked jurisdiction over the internal party matter.
The NTC contends that Abure’s victory celebration is unjustified because this dismissal means the matter never had legal validity. Abure’s goal, according to the NTC, was to exploit the court ruling as a pretext to hold profitable congresses and elections throughout Nigeria, even though he was aware that the proceedings would be overturned by the courts, as they had been in the states of Zamfara and the Plateau. Comrade Abdulwahed Omar, Chairman of the Labour Party NTC, stated, “Abure’s goal is to rake in billions of naira from misguided party aspirants, knowing full well that their participation would be nullified by the courts.” “To avoid the same costly trap and fate of Zamfara and Plateau state political aspirants and candidates, we urge all party aspirants to avoid Abure’s congresses and primaries.”
The Labour Party NTC has cautioned that Abure’s actions would cause a situation similar to what happened in the states of Zamfara and the Plateau, where elections were declared void by the courts because of illegitimate party structures. Party members have been cautioned by the NTC not to attend Abure’s congresses and primaries.
The Labour Party NTC subsequently issued a call to action, urging candidates and members to oppose Abure’s deceptive actions and back the NTC’s endeavours to forge a more robust and inclusive Labour Party.
