Given that the Federal High Court in Abuja has reinstated Comrade Philip Shaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State, these are unquestionably the best of times for him, Shaibu’s impeachment as Edo State’s deputy governor was overturned by the court.

The ruling was handed down on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 by Justice James Omotosho. Shaibu was ordered to be returned to office by Justice Omotosho on the basis that the Edo State House of Assembly had not followed the law when it attempted to remove him from office.
According to Justice Omotosho, the House of Assembly’s premise for the impeachment proceedings was an unfounded legal accusation that did not amount to egregious wrongdoing.
The judge mandated that the IGP give Shaibu the security he needs to return to work and carry out his official duties till the conclusion of his term.Shuaibu’s appointment as a deputy governor was annulled by Justice Omotosho.
