The BBC reports that Keir Starmer, the incoming prime minister, tells supporters in central London that “revolution begins now” and “thank you sincerely — you have changed our country.”
After securing the necessary 326 seats for victory in the general election, he declares that “such a mandate carries a big responsibility.”
“Nothing less than renewing the ideals hat keep our country together,” he continues, is the responsibility of a Labour government.
He continues, “We have to bring politics back to public service,” and he promises that his administration would “prove it can be a force for good.”
“I have to admit, it feels amazing,” he says to the applauding spectators.
Rishi Sunak, however, accepts defeat and declares, “I take responsibility for the loss.”
“We have the complete video of Rishi Sunak speaking as he maintained his seat in Richmond, Yorkshire, but acknowledged that the Labour Party had won the election,” the BBC reports.
