In an effort to stop a cholera outbreak in public primary schools, the Oyo State government has put precautions in place and is encouraging head teachers to make sure food handlers adhere to stringent cleanliness regulations to avoid contamination.
Today in Ibadan, the instruction was delivered by Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board.

According to him, the Oyo State government, acting through the Board, is vigilant in making sure public basic schools take precautions to protect the health and safety of their kids.
Adeniran also pleaded with guardians, parents, and school administrators to follow safety protocols.
According to Dr. Adeniran, the board would collaborate with head teachers, education secretaries, and other relevant parties to guarantee tight adherence.
Children should always carry hand sanitizers and wash their hands with soap and water, especially before meals and after using the restroom, according to the advise, which stressed the significance of good hand hygiene.
Additionally, Dr. Adeniran advised schools to maintain Oral rehydration Salts (ORS) on hand in school clinics to handle cases of dehydration quickly and to rapidly report any health crises or suspected cases of cholera to the State emergency hotline, 615.
Preventive measures, such as thorough health discussions on cholera prevention among students and staff and safe drinking water practices, would be held on a regular basis, according to Adeniran.
